Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 6, 2026

At Kindlefable, protecting your family's privacy — and especially your child's — isn't an afterthought. It's the foundation the product is built on. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and how you stay in control.

1. Who we are

Kindlefable (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides personalized educational bedtime stories delivered by email to families. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at privacy@kindlefable.com.

2. A note for children — and a promise to parents

Kindlefable is a service for parents and guardians. We do not create accounts for children, and children do not log in to anything. Every account on Kindlefable belongs to a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old.

If you are a child reading this: Kindlefable is something your parent or guardian sets up for you — you don't need to (and shouldn't) create an account or give us any information yourself.

3. What information we collect

We collect only what we need to create and deliver your child's stories:

  • From parents: your email address, a securely hashed password, and billing information processed by our payment provider (we never see or store your full card number).
  • About your child: a first name, an age (or age range), the topics and learning goals you select, a delivery time, and a time zone — used solely to personalize and schedule stories.

That's the complete list. We deliberately do not collect, request, or store:

  • Your child's last name, date of birth, address, or any contact information
  • Photos, videos, voice recordings, or any biometric data of your child
  • Your child's precise location or device identifiers
  • Any persistent identifier that could be used to contact or locate your child directly

4. How we use this information

We use the information above strictly to operate the service you signed up for:

  • Generating a new, personalized educational story for your child each night
  • Delivering that story to your email address at the time you choose
  • Operating your account — authentication, billing, and customer support
  • Maintaining a history of past stories so you can revisit them in your dashboard
  • Essential service communications, such as billing receipts or account notices

We do not use your child's information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond creating and delivering their stories.

5. COPPA compliance

Kindlefable is designed from the ground up to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Specifically:

  • Parent-only accounts. Only a parent or guardian can create an account, log in, or manage settings. There is no mechanism for a child to register, authenticate, or interact with Kindlefable directly.
  • Verifiable parental consent. Because creating a child profile requires the parent to hold a paid subscription — verified through our payment provider using the parent's own payment method — account creation itself constitutes verifiable parental consent under COPPA's payment-based consent method. No child profile can exist without a consenting, paying adult account holder.
  • Minimal collection by design. We collect only an age (or age bucket), a first name, and topic preferences for each child — never a full name, birthdate, photo, or any direct identifier (see Section 3).
  • No behavioral advertising to children. We do not serve advertising of any kind, and we never use a child's information to build advertising profiles.
  • Parental access and control. Parents can view, edit, or delete any child profile at any time from their dashboard, and can request full deletion of all associated data (see Section 7).

6. How we protect your information

Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed using industry-standard one-way algorithms. Data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS. Access to production systems and data is restricted to the engineers who need it to operate the service, and child profile data is never logged or persisted outside of its dedicated, access-controlled database table.

7. Data retention and deletion

We retain account and child-profile information for as long as your account remains active, so that we can keep generating and delivering stories and preserving your child's story history.

You can delete data at any time:

  • Delete a child profile directly from your dashboard — this immediately and permanently removes that child's profile and associated story history.
  • Delete your entire account by emailing privacy@kindlefable.com from your registered email address. We will permanently delete your parent account, all child profiles, all story history, and all associated personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain limited billing records by law.

8. We do not share your data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information or your child's information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes — ever.

We work with a small number of service providers strictly to operate Kindlefable on our behalf — for example, a payment processor to handle billing, an email delivery provider to send your child's stories, and infrastructure providers that host our servers. These providers act only on our instructions, are bound by confidentiality obligations, and are never permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Kindlefable, our users, or the public.

9. Your choices and rights

You may update your account information, manage or delete child profiles, and unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time from your dashboard. To exercise any other privacy right available to you under applicable law — including access, correction, or deletion of your data — contact us at privacy@kindlefable.com and we will respond promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify parents by email and update the “last updated” date below before the changes take effect.

11. Contact us

Questions, requests, or concerns about privacy or your child's data are always welcome at privacy@kindlefable.com.
